Zendaya is addressing her rumored marriage to Tom Holland.
While promoting her new film The Drama alongside costar Robert Pattinson on an episode of The New York Times’ Modern Love podcast released on Wednesday, April 1, Zendaya explained why she hasn't directly confirmed or denied her speculated marriage to Tom Holland, whom her stylist Law Roach claimed a month ago she secretly wed.
“I just feel like for me there is a level of a parasocial investment in my personal relationship, which I understand,” the actress, 29, said. “I’m aware that I'm a public person and so is he, and I’m also aware that we’ve grown up in front of people and we’ve done movies where we fall in love with each other, so I really do understand that, and I don’t want to dismiss that like, ‘Stay out of my business’ or whatever.”

Zendaya, who has fueled marriage speculation by regularly wearing what appears to be a wedding band, continued, "In a lot of ways, I’m also a very private person and I try my best to be able to have things for myself and for him as well."
While Zendaya and Holland are not trying to "hide [themselves] from the world," they are trying to “preserve things" for themselves in order to "maintain that joy" between the two of them and their loved ones.
Although Zendaya understands that there's a lot of public interest in her relationship, she refuses to share every detail with fans.
"I hear it, but I also [have] my own little boundaries of what I like to bring up and talk about, but then also what I'm also willing to share, you know?" she said, adding, "I just try to find the balance in the middle there."
Zendaya explained why she guards her private life during an interview with the at the Los Angeles premiere of The Drama on Tuesday, March 17.
"There's a balance between hiding and then also just, like, living your life and enjoying your life and protecting things that are special to yourself," she said. "And I think everyone kind of has to do that in some way."

She continued, "Whatever kind of job that you have, whatever kind of field that you're in, or if you're dealing with, you know, social media, whatever have you, like, we all, in some ways, have to learn how to keep things for ourselves and pour into ourselves just as much as we pour into the world or our work."

Back in August 2023, the Challengers star opened up to Elle about her decision to keep her relationship out of the spotlight.
“Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public,” Zendaya said. “I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can’t hide. That’s not fun either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”

Holland also talked about his desire to keep his personal life private during an interview with GQ in November 2021, after he and Zendaya were photographed kissing inside a car earlier that year.
"One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn't really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world," Holland told the magazine.
He added, "I've always been really adamant to keep my private life private, because I share so much of my life with the world anyway. We sort of felt robbed of our privacy. I don't think it's about not being ready. It's just that we didn't want to."
The Drama hits theaters on Friday, April 3.
