Ortiz is accused of pulling up to the estate shared by Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky and their three children while they were home on March 8 and opening fire with a semiautomatic rifle, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said.
Ortiz then allegedly fled the scene but was ultimately arrested in Sherman Oaks.
No one was hurt in the ordeal, but the pop star and beauty mogul was left deeply shaken, sources previously told PEOPLE.

Ortiz's alleged motive remains unclear. But the licensed speech pathologist had previously made cryptic posts on Facebook seemingly referencing the singer, including one from two weeks prior that read, "Say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me."
An inquiry to the Los Angeles County Public Defender was not immediately returned.
