Nothing gets in the way of Nicole Kidman when she's supposed to be on set.
The actress, 58, is an executive producer and stars in Margo's Got Money Troubles, and makes her first appearance as former pro wrestler Lace in the April 22 episode, which was also her first day of filming, her costar Nick Offerman tells PEOPLE.
In the scene, she reunites with Jinx (Offerman), an old friend from their wrestling days, who's at a fan convention with his daughter, Margo (Elle Fanning). It was a "huge set piece," Offerman, 55, says, with "hundreds of extras," and the scenes almost didn't happen at all.
"We're there in the morning, we're getting warmed up — some of us are going to be performing some actual wrestling, and so we have our doubles, we have people we're working with," Offerman recalls. "And the word comes in that Nicole has the flu, and we might not get Nicole today. And we're like, 'Oh no, that's such a bummer, because we only have the one day that we've built this whole circus for.'"
"It's about 8:00 in the morning that we get this news. Come to be about 11:00 a.m., the word comes in: Nicole's coming," the Parks & Rec star continues.

Kidman arrived "so sick," he says. "She was so pale, shaken. She just had the flu really so bad." Despite that, he says, "she showed up and made sure that we got every shot of her, total superhero style, did everything we needed to so that we did not lose one scrap of what we needed for her character."

When she was done for the day, Offerman says Kidman "was literally taken to the hospital for an IV."
"And I just said to her, I already admired you so much, but this is how you get to be Nicole Kidman, is you show up so that your show doesn't lose a minute of your value," he says. "It was so generous. It was astonishing."
Kidman told PEOPLE that she underwent training before filming began, and said she was initially "so scared about getting injured," but then she embraced it. "When I got in the ring, I just went, 'Okay, let's go,'" she said at the show's New York City premiere on April 8. "'Cause whenever I do something, I go, 'Okay, I've gotta be really careful,' and then I just forget about any sort of protection in my body, and I go crazy."
She gave credit to Offerman, though, who she said "had me covered" in the ring. "I would love to do more wrestling," she confessed.

Offerman plays her dad, while Michelle Pfeiffer plays her mom, Shyanne, an ex-Hooters waitress.
Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear, Michael Angarano, Rico Nasty and Lindsey Normington also star in the series, which was created by Pfeiffer's husband, David E. Kelley.
