The 2026 FIFA World Cup match between Mexico and England in the round of 16 remains a prime-time clash despite weather concerns.
Mexico vs. England is slated to start at its originally scheduled time of 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 5. Officials discussed moving the kickoff time as early as noon to get ahead of potentially inclement weather at Mexico City Stadium in Mexico City. Sunday's forecasts for Mexico City called for rain and thunderstorms.

There have already been weather delays in earlier World Cup matches: El Tri's round-of-32 game against Ecuador in Mexico City was delayed an hour due to lightning, and lightning struck again during France's group-stage game against Iraq in Philadelphia, causing a two-hour halftime delay.
There have also been discussions about Brazil's matchup against Norway on Sunday in East Rutherford, New Jersey, as it could be delayed if FIFA decides to adjust the Mexico-England matchup. Kickoff for that round of 16 game is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
