Selena Gomez recently reflected on her struggles with nicotine vaping in an Instagram video. She shared the clip on October 18, shedding light on the effects of vaping and encouraging people to avoid the habit. She said, “I’m not going to be able to change my voice” before adding, “I vaped nicotine a lot.”

The singer also explained that quitting nicotine vaping can be extremely difficult. She added, “And I think I just wanted to say, if you’re going through it or if you’re even trying to vape, it’s just not worth it.”

Calling the habit “stupid,” the “Wolves” hitmaker acknowledged that it had affected her voice. She also addressed the criticism her vocal tone has received, saying, “So if you guys don’t like listening to my voice, that’s totally understandable. I don’t mind. Just don’t listen to it,” with a laugh.

Gomez further revealed that she has quit the habit and feels genuinely happy about her decision, adding that she hopes to stay on track. She concluded, “If you are going through something, you can get through it too.”

Fans had previously speculated about changes in her vocal tone. She addressed the topic during an Instagram Live session last December, revealing that people often ask her why her voice has changed. In response, the singer explained that her throat sometimes swells internally, adding that this was the reason she had given for the change.
