Selena Gomez urged fans to stop vaping, revealing that her voice ā€œchangedā€ due to her nicotine addiction.

The actress said she’s ā€œreally excitedā€ to say she’s quit.

ā€œIf you guys don’t like listening to my voice, that’s totally understandable,ā€ Gomez shared.

Selena Gomez is urging fans to stop vaping.

ā€œI’m not going to be able to change my voice. I vaped nicotine a lot,ā€ Gomez shared in an Instagram Story video on Sunday. ā€œJust so everyone knows that’s somewhat vaped, nicotine is so hard to quit. And I think I just wanted to say, if you’re going through it or even if you’re trying to vape, it’s just not worth it.ā€

The singer called vaping ā€œso stupidā€ as she continued. ā€œIt’s changed my voice,ā€ Gomez added. ā€œSo if you guys don’t like listening to my voice, that’s totally understandable. I don’t mind, just don’t listen.ā€

She told followers that she’s ā€œreally excitedā€ because she’s stopped vaping, stressing that it’s ā€œreally hardā€ to quit. Gomez concluded: ā€œI know if you are going through something, you can get through it too. It sucks.ā€

Gomez’s Oct. 18 Instagram Story marks the first time she addressed her vaping habit after being photographed with the electronic cigarette several times over the years. The admission comes months after the Rare Beauty founder also discussed her voice changes during a December 2025 livestream following fan comments.

ā€œThere’s no excuse, I don’t really care,ā€ she said in clips shared on social media. ā€œI think my point is that sometimes things happen. I get weird [or] my throat swells from the inside sometimes. That’s all.ā€

The Wizards of Waverly Placealum thanked viewers for ā€œbeing realā€ with her at the time. ā€œI appreciate it though, for real,ā€ she added.

Gomez recently spoke candidly about several body changes she’s experienced, chalking them up to ā€œgetting olderā€ — something she’s not afraid of.

ā€œI don’t feel like it’s a bad thing,ā€ the 34-year-old told Entertainment Weeklysister site PEOPLE last month. ā€œGetting older has been so fun. I’m not scared at all.ā€

She added: ā€œThings are going to change and things are going to sag, but you’re alive. I think age is just a number in many ways.ā€

During the same interview, Gomez looked back at her younger self — specifically her 2016 makeup looks — noting that ā€œpeople want to freeze me in timeā€ at the moment she rose to fame.

ā€œIt was such a hectic period, and of course I had to rock a smoky eye. I was trying to be cool!ā€ she explained. ā€œIt was probably more interesting because I’m now chilling, which is great.ā€
