Bruce Willis’ blended family is as tight as it gets.
The Die Hard star is the proud father of five daughters. Bruce and actress Demi Moore were married for 13 years, from November 1987 to October 2000, and they welcomed three children together: Rumer Glenn Willis, Scout LaRue Willis, and Tallulah Belle Willis. He later wed model Emma Heming Willis in March 2009, and the couple welcomed two more girls: Mabel Ray Willis and Evelyn Penn Willis.
“Bruce’s response when asked if he’d like to have a son?… ‘I’d have 5 more girls right now,’ ” Emma shared on Instagram in June 2021.
In April 2023, the New Jersey native became a grandfather when his eldest daughter Rumer welcomed her first child, daughter Louetta Isley, with ex Derek Richard Thomas.
In March 2022, the family released a statement revealing that Bruce would be retiring from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia. In early 2023, the family shared that his condition had progressed into frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
In May 2026, Rumer opened up to celebrity stylist Maeve Reilly on an episode of The Inside Edit podcast about how “grateful” she was to spend so much time with her dad amid his journey with FTD.
“I love getting to go over and see him,” the Sorority Row star said. “I’m so grateful that I have a child that got to meet him because I don’t know if my sisters will have that.”

A Different Happily Ever After

After tying the knot on Nov. 21, 1987, Bruce and Moore separated 11 years later and finalized their divorce on Oct. 18, 2000. Rather than letting the dissolution of their marriage mark the end of their relationship, the pair became Hollywood’s friendliest exes, co-parenting daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.
They’ve stepped out for several public events together over the years, including in 2001, when the entire family supported Bruce at the premiere of his film Bandits.
The actor told Rolling Stonein December 2000 that he hadn’t figured out what exactly went wrong with his and Moore’s marriage, but asserted, “We’re very close. We have three children whom we will continue to raise together, and we’re probably as close now as we ever were. We realize we have a lifelong commitment to our kids. Our friendship continues. The institution has been set aside.”

Rumer told Larry David in a 2015 interview, “I never had to split up vacations or split up birthdays. Bruce was there for the 2019 release of Moore’s memoirInside Out, alongside their children, Rumer, Scout and Tallulah, and wife Emma.
Moore wrote in her memoir of their split, “I think Bruce was fearful at the beginning that I was going to make our split difficult, and that I would express my anger and whatever baggage that I had from our marriage by obstructing his access to the kids — that I’d turn to all of those ploys divorcing couples use as weapons. But I didn’t, and neither did he.”

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, exes Bruce and Moore self-isolated together in matching pajamas at their nearby homes in Idaho, as did their daughters and significant others.
Moore captioned a shot of the crew, “Family bonding,” while Bruce’s wife, who hadn’t yet isolated with them, commented, “At its finest 💚💚💚 love and miss you guys 💚💚💚.” (Emma, Mabel and Evelyn eventually joined the crew.)

The birthday girl shared photos of the festivities on Instagram, writing in the caption, “It really was a happy birthday for me 💞.”
Months later, Moore penned an International Women’s Day tribute to Emma, sharing on Instagram, “@emmahemingwillis: I #SeeHer as family who I am honored to call a friend. In March 2022, Bruce’s family revealed he had been diagnosed with aphasia — a condition that “robs you of the ability to communicate” and “can affect your ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written,” according to the Mayo Clinic. They also announced that because of his condition, he would be retiring from his decades-long acting career.
In February 2023, the family gave an update on his condition, revealing in a statement that his condition had been classified as frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed, and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD),” Emma shared on Instagram. “Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”
Emma ended the statement by thanking fans for their well-wishes and support.
