Rod Stewart has given an update on his health after undergoing a procedure on his heart.

The “Maggie May” singer, 81, attended a charity gala performance of Sinatra the Musical with his wife Penny Lancaster on Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Aldwych Theatre on London’s West End — just a couple of months after undergoing a “routine coronary stent procedure.”

The musician , who canceled the remainder of his tour dates this year after the operation in August, was asked about his health during the outing.

“F---ing brilliant! I swam 400 meters [just over 1300 feet] the other day,” Stewart told The Daily Mailof how he’s feeling.

The stent surgery came after he paused his concert and used an oxygen mask after nearly fainting onstage at a concert in Utah in June.

Last month, Stewart announced his The Final Encore Tour for 2027, but made it clear he will not be retiring entirely from the music industry.

“Ladies and gentlemen, after much deliberation and sadness, I have to announce next year will be my last tour ever, ever, ever,” Stewart said on Instagram on Sept. 28. “I’m not retiring, but this will be the last rock and roll tour.”

He continued, “I wanna thank you for everything you’ve given me, and hopefully I’ve given you something in return,” before taking to his piano and singing, “Please come out and see me on the tour. It’s gonna be great!”

Last month, Lancaster, 55, opened up about her husband’s recent health challenges on an episode of the At Home with Vanessa podcast.

She told host Vanessa Feltz that her husband had experienced “a couple of instances where he had an upper respiratory infection,” explaining that he’d performed at a venue with “very high altitude, so it would affect anybody.”

But Lancaster said they didn’t know at the time that Stewart had an “underlying heart issue.”

“They detected a slight blockage which needed a stent, which, according to a lot of research, it appears most people over the age of 65 will often need and require a stent,” Lancaster said.

She explained that the rock star has a group of people ensuring that he takes it easy from now on.

“Between me and my brother, his trainer, and doctors and everyone, you know, we’re not letting him get away with it ... he has to do as he’s told,” Lancaster said with a laugh on the podcast.
