SNL UK update: Ania Magliano mocked Shane Gillis' controversy from last week
Mashable reported that the comedian Shane Gillis accidentally said the f-word while sketching Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham. Shane appeared as a son who tried to protect his elderly father and kept insisting on serving food the old man didn't want. A week later, SNL UK aired with Ania Magliano, who mocked Shane and said that he was not allowed to use the f-word during his performance. Ania recalled,
"Last week on ‘SNL,’ comedian Shane Gillis also caused controversy by dropping the f-bomb."
She added,
"Oh, Shane. You’re not allowed to say that, you stupid f*cking c*nt."
Ania's sharp remark drew loud applause from the studio audience and viewers across the United Kingdom. It was a direct transatlantic takedown, delivered with far fewer limits on the language used to make its impact clear.

BBC revealed that Ania became part of the first cast of SNL UK when the show started on March 21, 2026. She said,
"I love performing stand-up, but the chance to work collaboratively with other amazing comedians was a huge draw for me. And honestly, being part of SNL UK is just incredibly cool."
Sky Group announced her as an original cast member on February 4, 2026, and she worked as a co-anchor for the Weekend Update segment. Later, she returned with the entire original cast for the second season, which began on September 12, 2026.
What did Shane Gillis say in last week's SNL?
Last week on SNL, Shane Gillis reportedly dropped the f-bomb during his third hosting stint. The comedian accidentally used a swear word during a sketch inspired by Dr. Seuss and later apologized for it. Shane remarked,
"Bro, it's a non-starter. He said he doesn't f***ing—jeez—like 'em."
The 38-year-old's monologue also drew criticism because of several offensive remarks he made. Seven years ago, Shane was taken off SNL after an old video came out showing him using racist and homophobic words.
