Priyanka Chopra Jonas says she and Nick Jonas prioritize daughter Malti's anonymity as she grows older

Chopra Jonas says they hire security to prevent Malti from being recorded without consent in public

She emphasizes wanting Malti to have the choice to embrace or avoid public life in the future

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is explaining her decision to keep her daughter's face out of the spotlight.

The Bluff star, 43, joins this week's episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast to talk about her beauty pageant days, her upcoming action-thriller film and her life as a mom. In an exclusive clip shared with PEOPLE ahead of the Tuesday, March 10 episode, Chopra Jonas opens up about her and husband Nick Jonas' decision to keep their daughter Malti, 4, off of social media as she gets older.

"As she's growing older, we've started to also kind of just deflect a little bit," the mom of one says. "She moves around a lot, [so we] let her have as much anonymity as she can."

"It is her normal, and people will be curious about her, and I never want her to be fearful of that or judgy or skeptical of the humans that she meets because there are good people in the world, and I've had wonderful experiences with friends like that," Chopra Jonas adds. "It's okay for her to be aware of it, but to have a sense of choice, I think will be important."

Chopra Jonas also explains why she hires security when her family of three goes out.

"When we have security out and about, it's just ... to not be recorded without consent because a lot of that happens," she explains, sharing that her daughter was once followed home from school by a normal person recording her.

While the Heads of State actress has accepted that she decided to have a public life that people are interested in, she says that she wants to ensure her daughter has the ability to make that choice for herself.

"I've always been of the opinion that I kind of chose a public life," Chopra Jonas says. "I'm pragmatic enough to be like that's the nature of the beast. If you're gonna live a public life, people will be interested and curious."

"[When] it comes to children, that's ... terrain we are all learning in the last like 10 to 20 years what that is gonna be like in the next 10 years, 15 years for them," she continues. "So I think a little bit of grace is required for everyone, but also certain awareness of safety and what that means."

The doting mom, who welcomed her daughter in January 2022, concludes by acknowledging that public curiosity about her daughter is "great," saying she loves to talk about her. However, similar to her character in The Bluff, Chopra Jonas prioritizes Malti's protection above everything else.

"I love talking about Malti. She's an amazing, smart, precocious, [and] fun kid," she says of her daughter. "I mean, for me, this movie, like it was all about that, like the feeling of, 'What are you capable of? What will you do to protect your child? How far will you go,' and I feel that."
