The popular television show host, 55, shared several pictures and videos on her Instagram, recapping her daughter Krishna's 16th birthday celebration. Lakshmi, who welcomed the teen in February 2010, shared more details about the mother-daughter duo's weeklong festivities in the caption of her carousel post.

"Had an epic birthday week with the Teen," Lakshmi wrote. "Blowout dance party for her friends, a mom/daughter girls trip in sunny Miami for a few days, and then a birthday/belated Christmas ramen fest with cousins, aunties, and uncles at home in sweats!"

"For her 17th year I think I’m just gonna leave her alone! (Her suggestion, not mine. UGH!)," the doting mom joked.

On Friday, Feb. 20, Lakshmi celebrated her daughter on her actual birthday with an emotional Instagram tribute.

"SIXTEEN YEARS OLD! Can you believe it? Officially not #littlehands anymore. Happy birthday my sweet girl," she captioned the post, calling out her daughter's sweet nickname.

The former Top Chef host, who was initially told she may not be able to have children, was overjoyed to become a mother.

"Willing yourself into this world, you've been the greatest joy of my life," she wrote on Instagram in honor of Krishna's 13th birthday. "Of course I love you with all my heart but I also really like you! You have a wicked sense of humor. There's no one I'd rather spend time with, no one I'd rather laugh with or cry with."

The famous foodie praised her daughter's "emotional wisdom" and called her a "rare delight" who lights up a room. "I look forward to watching you grow into the best version of yourself. Light of my life, you keep me grounded and sane and never let me take myself too seriously," she concluded.

Back in October, Lakshmi spoke with PEOPLE about her new campaign with Soma pajamas and was asked about how it's been parenting her daughter, Krishna, as a teenager. She explained that while they have a "good relationship," there has been some "turbulence" with her daughter.

"I mean, the truth is, teens are changing and evolving, their personality is literally day-to-day," Lakshmi said. "And so she'll go to her dad's and come back, and I'm like, 'You're a different person.'"

"Yesterday we were hanging out, and I was actually teasing her," she continued. "I said, 'Remember two years ago when you said this thing, and you were really frustrated about it? And we had so many conversations, and I just said, 'Wait, you'll thank me later, you'll see what I mean.' And you were just fighting me. And look, today!'"

"And she laughed and she goes, 'Yeah, you don't have to throw that in my face,' " added Lakshmi.

However, the proud mom said that she knows she's not always right, and that she just wants to see her daughter thrive.

"I'm not always right, but I have been there before, so I don't have any interest except her flourishing and her well-being," she said. "I mean, I remember being a teen, and the last thing you want to do is listen to your parents."

She concluded, "But I mean, we have a good relationship. It's not without its turbulence, but we're very frank with each other, and we have a good, open relationship, which I hope continues."
