Things are getting *heated *off the ice at Briar University in the first teaser for Prime Video's upcoming hockey romance series *Off Campus*.

Based on Elle Kennedy's bestselling book series, the upcoming TV adaptation from creator/co-showrunner Louisa Levy is the latest hockey romance adaptation that's primed to take streaming audiences by storm after *Heated Rivalry*'s meteoric rise over winter. But instead of following a queer couple's star-crossed journey while navigating the NHL, *Off Campus *centers the stories of an elite collegiate ice hockey team and the women in their lives.

The teaser trailer gives fans the first footage featuring Briar University's hockey captain Garrett (Belmont Cameli) and quiet songwriter Hannah (Ella Bright), whose romance in Kennedy's *The Deal *(2015) serves as the focal point of season 1. The minute-long video shows flashes of life at Briar U before Hannah and Garrett have a — literal — steamy first meeting in the team's locker room showers.

"You looking for someone?" Garrett cheekily asks an understandably stunned Hannah who had been innocently cleaning up while listening to her headphones and didn't realize she was about to have an embarrassing meet-cute with her future beau. Hannah stutters as she apologizes and runs out, but the little smile she can't hide once she's out of sight is all we need to see to know the fun has just begun.

Just like in Kennedy's books, season 1 will follow the two polar opposites as their paths cross when the classical music major agrees to tutor the popular jock in exchange for making her crush, Justin Kohl (Josh Heuston), jealous. But, naturally, Hannah and Garrett’s fake date quickly becomes something much more real than either of them is willing to admit.

The series also stars Mika Abdalla as Allie, with the Briar U hockey team rounded out by Antonio Cipriano as John Logan, Jalen Thomas Brooks as John Tucker, and Stephen Kalyn as Dean Di Laurentis. The series scored an early season 2 pickup last month, leading to what will presumably take on a *Bridgerton*-like with season-by-season leads that follow the other novels in Kennedy's *Off Campus* series.

"There's something really unique and special about college-age romances where it's not really that first love kind of vibe, it is something potentially more, and you're still discovering so much about yourself," Levy told * *for our exclusive first look at the Prime Video series last September. "It's more mature and sexier than high school. These characters are so sex-positive, especially in the first book, which is the tentpole of our first season. It's this really deep romance that also has nuances of exploring who you are in the bedroom. There's really lovely elements to who you want to be as a human that gets reflected in the steamy sex scenes that we have coming up this season."

But Levy — who serves as co-showrunner with Gina Fattore — has a disclaimer for fans anticipating an ultra-faithful adaptation of their favorite books.

"We really want to honor the book and where these characters are coming from, but we only have eight episodes to do it as opposed to a full novel," Levy said. "So there are some moments that I'm sure the fans will be very excited to see that we are not able to dramatize or find a way to do that to the full length. But we really are going to honor the book and do our best to honor the characters and be true to them and also do our best to include as many Easter eggs as possible of both plot points and moments from the book."

Levy adds that every important moment from Hannah and Garrett's love story will be included in some way this season. "Just maybe it'll show up in a way you don't expect," she said.

Prime Video will drop all episodes of *Off Campus* season 1 on May 13. Watch the first teaser trailer above.
