Miley Cyrus and her fiancé, Maxx Morando, want a "smaller and meaningful" wedding rather than a "big Hollywood production," an exclusive source tells PEOPLE
"Maxx is extremely private, and that's not who he is," the insider says
PEOPLE confirmed the pair's engagement in December 2025
Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando envision a "smaller and meaningful" wedding rather than a "huge" event, an exclusive source tells PEOPLE.
The insider says the "Flowers" singer, 33, talks about the wedding and has "ideas" about the vision she wants — "but she's not planning some huge, traditional event."
"Maxx is extremely private, and that's just not who he is," the source explains. "When they do get married, it will be something smaller and meaningful to them. Not a big Hollywood production."
As for the couple's engagement — which a source confirmed to PEOPLE on Dec. 2, 2025 — the insider says Cyrus is embracing this happy chapter: "Miley really loves her life right now. Everything just feels like it's falling into place for her."

One day after the engagement news broke, Cyrus expressed her amazement that Morando, 27, succeeded in keeping his proposal plan under wraps.
“I am not easy to surprise because I love to control every situation, and I had completely surrendered,” Cyrus said during a Dec. 3 appearance on Good Morning America. “And I’m telling you, I was so, so, so surprised.”

She added that she "of course" said "yes" to the musician and confirmed that he "did good" when it came to picking out her engagement ring.
Francesca Simons, a rep for jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche, told PEOPLE that Aiche made the "bespoke" ring, which features a cushion-cut stone set on a thick, 14-karat yellow gold band.

Cyrus was first spotted wearing the striking ring around mid-November, according to Deux Moi. It was visible in photos from her birthday dinner late in the month.

The Grammy winner and her drummer fiancé were first romantically linked in December 2021, when they were photographed cozying up backstage during Cyrus' NBC holiday special, Miley's New Year's Eve Party, in Miami.
In April 2022, they seemingly confirmed their romance when they were spotted kissing while out in West Hollywood.
In a June 2023 cover story interview for British Vogue, Cyrus revealed that she and Morando were set up on a blind date.
"Well, it was blind for me and not really for him," the Hannah Montana alum then clarified. "I thought, 'The worst that can happen is I leave.' "

In a September 2025 conversation with The Cut about learning lessons from past relationships, Cyrus shared how her mom, Tish, always wanted her "to stay with the wrong guy ’cause they’re hot."
With Morando, she said, "I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me. I had to learn that the hard way because my mommy taught me the wrong way and then I had to learn the right way by myself."
"I had to find someone who treats me with respect, and then Mom never really put that on the top three of her must-haves," she continued. "Mom was like, 'They need to be tall.' "
She added of her husband-to-be: "My man’s hot as hell … but my man also respects me."
Amid wedding planning, Cyrus will revisit her Hannah Montana days in the upcoming Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, set to release on Disney+ on March 24.
“The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of," she said in a statement in press release announcing the much-anticipated special. "This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
