A source claimed that Meghan Markle was “used” as a promotional tool for “The Gentlemen.” According to the insider, the show’s makers feared the next season might struggle to attract viewers and had already renewed the series for Season 3, making the alleged marketing strategy necessary. However, an earlier report suggested that Markle’s return to acting had been in the works long before this purported opportunity emerged.

Sources close to Meghan Markle have claimed that she is no longer involved in “The Gentlemen” Season 3, accusing Netflix of using her name to promote the series. Speaking to The Telegraph, the insiders alleged that the streaming giant leveraged speculation surrounding the Duchess of Sussex to generate publicity for the show’s second season.
“Some people in her camp feel she was used to help promote season two, because they knew it wasn’t as good as the first season and had already commissioned a third,” one source claimed.
The insider also explained how such a strategy could help boost viewership by generating buzz around a high-profile name. “It’s the oldest marketing trick in the book: get a big name to read a script, then leak that you’re ‘in conversation’ with them when, in reality, nothing is particularly far along,” they elaborated. Speculation surrounding Markle’s potential involvement in the series gained traction amid reports of her return to the UK.

Meanwhile, Netflix’s scripted chief in the UK, Manda Levin, previously addressed the rumors surrounding Markle during an appearance at the Edinburgh TV Festival. “All bets are off,” she said when discussing the possibility of the Duchess joining the show.
The Duchess of Sussex stepped away from her acting career in 2017, ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry and her entry into the royal family. Her final major acting role was Rachel Zane in “Suits,” the legal drama in which she starred for seven seasons.
Reflecting on her experience working on “Suits” during the “Harry & Meghan” documentary, Markle said, “It’s interesting. My husband has never worked in this industry before. For me, having worked on Suits, it’s so amazing to be around so much creative energy and to see how people work together and share their own points of view. That’s been really fun” (via PEOPLE).
