Kiefer Sutherland was arrested in Los Angeles on Monday after an alleged altercation with a ride-share driver.

A representative from the Los Angeles Police Department detailed in a statement to * *that officers responded to a radio call regarding an assault involving a rideshare driver on Jan. 12 around 12:15 a.m. When they arrived near the intersection of Sunset Blvd. and Fairfax Ave. in the West Hollywood neighborhood, officers took Sutherland into custody on suspicion of making criminal threats.

"The investigation determined that the suspect, later identified as Kiefer Sutherland, entered a rideshare vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats toward the victim," LAPD's statement reads.

The department noted that the alleged victim did not sustain any injuries requiring immediate medical treatment. Detectives from the Hollywood Division are currently investigating the incident.

Sutherland was booked into jail on a $50,000 bond, which he has since posted and gained release. His next appearance is scheduled at Los Angeles Superior Court on Feb. 2, according to arrest records.**

Sutherland is best known as Jack Bauer, the crime-fighting protagonist of the Fox action series *24*. The son of actors Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas starred on all eight seasons of *24*, as well as the TV movie *24: Redemption*, and the limited series *24: Live Another Day*. He won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for the role.

In 2007, Sutherland was arrested on drunk driving charges and hit with his fourth DUI in 18 years. The actor pleaded no contest, but since he was still on probation for a 2004 DUI, he was sentenced to mandatory jail time. He served 48 days before being released.

Sutherland was arrested again two years later for head-butting Proenza Schouler founder Jack McCollough at the Mercer Hotel in Manhattan. He was charged with third-degree assault, but charges were ultimately dropped after Sutherland and McCollough issued a joint statement in which he apologized.

"I am sorry about what happened that night and sincerely regret that Mr. McCollough was injured," Sutherland said in the brief statement.****

Most recently, Sutherland appeared in the action comedy *Stone Cold Fox*, costarring Krysten Ritter and Kiernan Shipka. Next up, he's set to appear alongside Al Pacino in the mob thriller *Father Joe *from *The Fifth Element *director Luc Besson.
