How ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ Signed Off for the Very Last Time

On Monday (August 31), Kelly Clarkson bid adieu to fans of her daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and it was an emotional sendoff indeed.
In the finale, the songbird put fans front and center by opening up her final playlist to audience members to pick the titles from her own catalogue to perform in a very special edition of “Kelly Clarkson By Request.”
Before uttering a note, though, she said, “It is a bittersweet day for all of us. After seven amazing seasons, it’s our final episode.”
She brought guests from her Las Vegas residency to join her in the band and explained her decision to focus on her own music, saying, “From the very first episode, music has been the cornerstone of this show. We’ve done over 1,000 Kelly-okes, talked to hundreds of guests about songs that inspired their work, and then everyday people who’ve used the power of music to transform their lives and the lives of those in their communities. We even created a segment dedicated to honoring others’ work because I’m a super fan of other artists, ‘Songs & Stories,’ we’ve really enjoyed that, a lot of life heroes I was able to sing with on the show, a blessing. Music is simply the way we connect with everybody, so we hope you’ve enjoyed it.” Noting then that some have wondered why her own music hasn’t been the centerpiece for an entire hour, she said, “Well, guess what? It’s happening right now.”

“This hour is dedicated to everyone who’s been so supportive for seven seasons,” Clarkson continued. “Ya’ll has been crazy. We know how to pivot. This has been from lockdowns to virtual audiences, from Los Angeles to New York. From talking and singing with Dolly Parton to talking and singing with Dwayne Johnson, it’s been a really, really cool ride.”
In addition to performing selections from her catalogue, like “Since U Been Gone,” “Sober,” “Stronger,” and “Piece by Piece,” she also debuted her brand-new single “I’d Be Lyin'” and fulfilled one of the biggest wishes of fans by performing “Golden” from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack.
For the grand finale, Clarkson also brought along her two children, River and Remy, and explained that spending more time with them was the reason she was ready to say goodbye to The Kelly Clarkson Show.
She offered one final sendoff for viewers at home, saying, “I loved being in your homes each day.”
