On Wednesday, Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) unveiled the iPhone Duo at its first major product event under CEO John Ternus, marking the company’s entry into the foldable smartphone market.

iPhone Duo Gets Analysts Excited

Gene Munster, managing partner at Deepwater Asset Management, said on X that the Duo is "sick," praising its thin design and lack of a visible crease.

He also raised his expectations for the device, saying he previously estimated it could account for about 5% of iPhone revenue in fiscal 2027 but now sees that figure potentially reaching 10%.

Munster said Apple may have finally regained its "device design mojo" and argued that the Duo could appeal to customers reluctant to buy competing foldables because of their thickness, creases and overall fit and finish.

Futurum Group CEO Daniel Newman reacted to the announcement, saying, "iPhone Duo. Just take my money."

Creative Strategies CEO and principal analyst Ben Bajarin also appeared impressed, highlighting the Duo’s different usage modes and saying he was eager to see what developers would build for the new form factor.

Even longtime foldable skeptic Jason Calacanis sounded tempted. While criticizing foldables as too thick, awkward and expensive, Calacanis said he would "probably spend $2K" on Apple’s version.

$2,000 Price Remains the Catch

The Duo starts at $1,999 for 256GB and climbs to $3,199 for 2TB. Apple says preorders begin Oct. 16, with availability starting Oct. 23.
