Former WWE star Carmella has cleared up her pro wrestling status after appearing to announce her retirement recently.
Carmella has been away from the ring for more than three years. While she has teased a possible return from time to time, her recent comments seemed to suggest that she has moved on from wrestling.
During an appearance on the “Hot Mom S**t” podcast with Laura Clery, Carmella talked about her relationship with WWE announcer Corey Graves and their life together. While discussing how things have changed since they became parents, Carmella referred to herself as retired.
“I was a professional wrestler, so it’s like I can’t wrestle anymore. I’m a mom. I have kids. So, that’s kind of like I’m retired,” she said.
The former WWE superstar had never officially announced her retirement, so many fans were surprised to hear her describe herself as “retired.” However, she has now explained what she actually meant.
Carmella responds to fan confusion over her retirement comments
After the podcast comments started making the rounds, Carmella responded to a fan on X who expressed their disappointment by what appeared to be her retirement announcement.

Instead of confirming the end of her wrestling journey, Carmella revealed that her physical condition had improved a lot.
“You guys…. My foot is healed. And I’m in the best shape of my life….. definitely not retired,” Carmella wrote.
Carmella has been dealing with a serious physical issue that kept her out of the ring after the birth of her first child. She was diagnosed with drop foot, which played a major role in her long absence from wrestling.
Her post makes her current position clear. Despite what she said on the podcast, she does not consider herself retired from professional wrestling.
The former SmackDown Women’s Champion has not wrestled since March 2023. Her final televised match came on the March 6 episode of WWE RAW, where she faced Bianca Belair. Carmella’s last match overall came six days later at a WWE live event at Madison Square Garden. Her WWE contract eventually expired in February 2025, and she did not sign a new deal.
