Preston Harp has watched his sister become one of the most photographed people in America and says none of it surprises him, though none of it reassures him either. “She thinks that the whitewashing of history is actually a ‘correction’ — like Trump,” he told the Daily Beast, describing what he called a “very unhealthy” relationship between Natalie Harp and the president she works for.

Days earlier she had been directly behind the president at a Pennsylvania defense roundtable. Before that, countless other events, briefings, and public appearances where the camera eventually finds her somewhere close.

He has called her one of his “most loyal aides” and, according to the book “Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump” by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, told his other staffers: “All of you will go off and make money. She’ll never leave me.” He has also reportedly described her to White House staff as “the only one who loved him as much as his wife and kids.”

The same book documents a note Harp wrote to Trump: “You are all that matters to me.” Swan has described some of her communications with the president as “odd” and “intimate.”
Friday’s event added another chapter to a relationship that has generated sustained attention since Harp, a 34-year-old former conservative television host, became a fixture in Trump’s orbit. The FIFA reception brought Trump together with Gianni Infantino, the FIFA president who awarded Trump a newly created Peace Prize late last year, weeks before Trump ordered military strikes on Iran.
Trump told guests he hoped the United States would host another World Cup, though he said he would prefer the next one to exclude Canada and Mexico.
