Cindy Crawford breaks silence on son Presley Gerber’s death: ‘We are beyond heartbroken’

Presley Gerber’s family has broken their silence on his death at 27.

Cindy Crawford penned a heartfelt tribute to her son on Oct. 18, sharing that the family is “beyond heartbroken” over his loss.

Gerber died on Sept. 20 at a rehabilitation facility, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

Cindy Crawford is paying tribute to her son, Presley Gerber, nearly one month after his death at 27.

Presley, the brother of model Kaia Gerber and only son of Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber, died at a rehabilitation facility on Sunday, Sept. 20, at age 27. On Sunday, Oct. 18, Crawford remembered her son with a heartbreaking post, sharing a black-and-white photo of Presley with what appeared to be wings wrapped around his body.

“We are beyond heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother,” Crawford began the message. “We feel so blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years. He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever.”

She continued, “We are so proud of how he showed up in the world, with kindness and vulnerability. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many who know and love our family and even strangers who feel our pain. Til we meet again our sweet boy. We love you forever.”

The message was signed as being from, “Mom, Dad and Kaia.”

Crawford concluded by thanking photographer Sebastián Faena for snapping the photo of Presley.

Entertainment Weekly first reported Presley’s death on Sept. 20, after reviewing records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. In an initial statement, a representative for the Crawford-Gerber family told EW, “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”

His autopsy has been completed, though an official cause of death has been deferred pending further investigation.

Like his sister, Presley had followed in his mother’s footsteps to pursue a modeling career. At just 15 years old, he signed with IMG Models and made his runway debut in Milan the following year. In addition to walking for massive fashion brands, he joined his mother for a 2018 national ad campaign for Pepsi that recreated her iconic 1992 Super Bowl commercial.

Presley eventually took a step back from the spotlight as he struggled with legal, mental health, and addiction issues in the late 2010s.

Throughout his struggles with addiction and mental health, Presley made a point to be open on social media about his treatment and diagnoses. It was an aspect of his public persona that his sister Kaia praised just one month before his death.

“My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything,” Kaia toldVogue in a profile published on Aug. 11. “Now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone.’”
