Presley Gerber’s family has broken their silence following his death at age 27.
Almost a month after Presley died on Sept. 20, his mother, Cindy Crawford; father, Rande Gerber; and sister, Kaia Gerber, paid tribute to him through a Sunday, Oct. 18, Instagram post shared on Crawford’s account.
Sharing a black-and-white photo of Presley that was crafted by artist Sebastian Faena, the family began, “We are beyond heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother.”
“We feel so blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years. He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever,” Crawford, 60, Rande, 64, and Kaia, 25, continued. “We are so proud of how he showed up in the world, with kindness and vulnerability.”
Added the trio: “We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many who know and love our family and even strangers who feel our pain. Til we meet again our sweet boy. We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia 🪽.”

Presley, the son of supermodel Crawford and businessman Rande, was in a rehab facility at the time of his death, a Los Angeles County medical examiner’s report obtained by PEOPLE stated.
A call was dispatched to Santa Monica police for a cardiac arrest at 9:35 a.m. local time on Sept. 20, and another dispatch revealed that first responders were responding to an overdose at the address, according to recordings obtained by PEOPLE.
In a statement shared on Sept. 21, the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) said officers discovered Presley dead upon their arrival at the rehab facility. Authorities added that Santa Monica Police Detectives were “investigating the death as a suspected overdose,” and they said there is “no indication of foul play.”
The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, and the investigation into Presley’s death remains ongoing.

Presley had been open about his mental health and substance abuse during public appearances and on his social media account before he died.
A source previously told PEOPLE that Crawford and Rande spent “years” helping Presley seek treatment, including therapy, inpatient and outpatient rehab and “so many types of homeopathic therapies.”

An insider, who has been close to Crawford, told PEOPLE that she and Rande were consistently involved in their son’s life.
“This was never a situation involving two absent Hollywood parents,” the source said. “Cindy and Rande could not have been more supportive of Presley. They were always there for him and did everything they could to help him. The family has always been incredibly close, and Presley was deeply loved.”
One person close to Kaia also told PEOPLE that the family was in “total shock” after Presley’s death, stating, “They are saddened beyond words. Kaia loved that Presley was so open about his struggles; his family was so proud that he was finding strength in helping others.”
In a September cover story with Vogue, published on Aug. 11, Kaia opened up about Presley’s drug use over the years and how it affected their family.
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she said, then detailing how she started putting her own needs on the back burner. “I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing.”

Kaia further explained that watching her brother be so open about his life was refreshing. “My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone.’ There’s only so much you can hide from the world,’ “ she told the outlet.
“And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them,” Kaia added.
