One of the brothers of Baltimore Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell has been arrested and charged in Atlanta with the murder of their mother, Nateal Campbell, according to reports.
Local WSB-TV,11Alive, and Fox 5 reported that the NFL star's 71-year-old mother was found dead at her townhome in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood after police carried out a wellness check on her.
WSB-TV reported that Calais' brother, Ciarre Campbell, was arrested and booked into jail early Wednesday morning in connection with their mother's death. The outlet reported that the NFL mom was found with a knife wound to her neck, though no cause of death has officially been released by Fulton County officials as of early Wednesday morning.
Fulton County Jail records reviewed by PEOPLE show Ciarre faces two charges of murder, another of aggravated assault, and another of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission or attempted commission of certain felonies.

Police arrested Ciarre after officers forced their way into the family's Atlanta home on Tuesday afternoon and allegedlyfound him barricaded inside. Local officials said police continued to search the home after detaining Ciarre and then found Nateal dead, according to Fox 5. The outlet reported that there have been several police-involved incidents reported at the home, including a recent incident in April.

"We are devastated to share that the Campbell Family has lost its matriarch, Mrs. Nateal Campbell," the family said in a statement to ESPN. "While the details of her passing are still being investigated, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with our father, her beloved Chuck, and in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We ask for privacy at this time so that we may honor her and share in our overwhelming grief privately and as a family."
The Ravens also released a statement, per Fox 5, calling the situation “heartbreaking.”
"We are incredibly saddened to learn about the passing of Calais Campbell's mother," the Ravens said, per the outlet. "We extend our deepest condolences and full support to Calais and his family during this difficult time. We ask that everyone please respect their privacy while they grieve from this heartbreaking loss."
Calais, the Ravens' 39-year-old defensive end and a six-time Pro Bowler, is one of eight brothers, according to USA Today. Their father died in 2003 when Calais was 17 years old.
