Ariana Grande is mourning one of her oldest companions.
On Monday, Oct. 19, the singer shared that her dog Coco had died, posting a 17-slide Instagram tribute filled with photos, some in black and white, and videos of the pup over the years, calling her “sweetest, most amazing and most beautiful coco.”
“I am so proud of you,” Grande, 33, wrote, “thank you for your love, and for blessing this planet with your physical presence for over seventeen wonderful years.”

“You make everywhere you go a more beautiful place,” the post continued, “i will miss you every day and hold you in my heart always. i love you so, sweet girl.”
Grande did not share a cause of death. Among the collection of mementos, the “big feelings” singer shared images of Coco celebrating her 17th birthday with a pointed birthday hat and a doggie cake shaped like a bone topped with numerical candles.
Coco, reported to be a dachshund-German shepherd mix, was by Grande’s side long before she became a global star. In December 2012, while the singer was working on her debut album, she posted her first music vlog to YouTube, and her first “interview” was with Coco. The since-removed 46-second clip was titled “Coco breaks it down.”

For years, Grande’s household has grown into a full-blown pack, made up largely of rescues. Among the most familiar faces is Toulouse, the beagle-Chihuahua mix she adopted in 2013, who turned 13 in June.
She has also cared for Myron, the dog she shared with her late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, and has shared sweet moments with him over the years. Her pack has also reportedly included Strauss, Lafayette, Pignoli, Cinnamon, Snape and Lily.
And in 2018, Grande and then-fiancé Pete Davidson, 32, welcomed a pet pig named Piggy Smallz, who famously slept in what fans mistook for a baby crib. Grande later clarified that it was the pig’s playpen.
The singer has long championed animal adoption. In a 2015 interview with Billboard, Grande shared, “I got involved with dog rescues by simply loving animals. Dogs are the most harmless, sweetest babes in the world. They show nothing but unconditional love, so they deserve that in return.”
In 2020, Grande co-founded Orange Twins Rescue, a Los Angeles nonprofit, with her creative director and choreographer, Brian and Scott Nicholson, alongside Bel Air Grooming owner Asami Kuroki, who serves as the business’s foster coordinator.
“My mission is to help as many homeless dogs as I can find loving families who will cherish them,” Grande told Billboard.
