Per the brand, the dress is from its Waldorf Astoria collection and is inspired by Anna May Wong, the first Chinese-American movie star in Hollywood.
Liu accessorized her look with diamond earrings and styled her hair in an ornate braided bun. Inside the event, she mingled with Prince Harry and fellow athletes like Chloe Kim and Madison Chock.
Her appearance at the TIME100 Sports Gala came right after she turned heads at the ESPY Awards on July 15. There, the Louis Vuitton ambassador wore a chocolate brown dress from the brand. The look featured a plunging neckline, an open back that showed off her lower back tattoo, and she accessorized with a cross necklace.

At the ceremony, she took home the award for Best Breakthrough Athlete. During her acceptance speech, she briefly spoke about her figure skating journey.
“First of all, I’m really honored to be given this award,” she said. “I’ve been in my sport since I was 5 years old, and I had some really rough times in it. I took two years off. So, for me, this really feels like I broke through in my own way, for myself, and for my sport. I love being an athlete. I couldn’t have done it without my team.”
She went on to thank her coaches, who “really helped me through these two years. I feel like mentally [and] physically, they helped me break through.”
Liu undoubtedly has a penchant for eccentric fashion, and in an interview with Elle published on May 4, she opened up about her personal style.

“My style is very eclectic,” she said. “My personal style has evolved over the years naturally, as I’ve gotten older, but mostly because I’m coming back into myself. I know what I like and what makes me feel good, but because I’m still evolving, it’s fun to leave room for the unexpected and the discovery part of my personality.”
