David Muir offered a rare glimpse into his personal life on social media following his return to the anchor desk this week.
The 52-year-old broadcast journalist resumed his duties on ABC World News Tonight on Monday, Aug. 3, following a period away from the program. The popular anchor provided followers with an explanation for his time off through a new series of images on Instagram shared on Wednesday, August 5, revealing David had been visiting Italy and Spain with relatives.
The upload received an outpouring of responses from audiences who expressed how much they "missed" his presence. This comes after he was absent and had a replacement during a recent Nancy Guthrie update.

Soon after resuming his nightly broadcast responsibilities, Muir shared a series of images on Instagram chronicling his recent journeys to Italy and Spain with relatives, including his sister Becky.
David wrote in the caption of the post, his first in a month, "heart full and still smiling," as followers inundated the comments section with messages of encouragement and affection for the popular anchor.
