Many of the networks have already begun giving renewals to their top-rated series for the 2026-2027 season, but there are always a few shows that are considered on the ā€œbubbleā€ and the future of those shows often depends on what’s on the development slate that could fill their timeslot.

Here’s a look at the broadcast shows that have yet to be picked up with an educated guess as to their future, whether they will get a pickup or if they are in jeopardy of being cancelled. The final word from ABC, FOX and NBC will come this May during the upfront presentations. CBS, though, is moving up its reveal of its 2026–27 schedule to Wednesday, April 15.

Below is Parade’s status report on the series that have yet to be given the green light for the 2026-2027 season.

ABC has already given pickups to four of its series: 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville, Abbott Elementary and High Potential, so that leaves several in limbo.

Grey’s Anatomy: With its outstanding run, Grey’s is a sure bet to get another season.

RJ Decker: With only a handful of episodes having aired, it's too soon to predict.

The Rookie: Another sure bet.

Scrubs: Again, not enough episodes have aired to make for a definitive prediction.

Shifting Gears: This is also a pretty sure bet.

Will Trent: Without a doubt, it will be back.

CBS has renewed the majority of its series, including The Amazing RaceBoston Blue, Elsbeth, FBI, Fire Country, Georgie & Mandy’s First Wedding, GhostsMarshals, Matlock, NCIS, NCIS: Origins, NCIS: Sydney, Sheriff Country, Survivor andTracker.

That only leaves CIA, DMV and Watson.

CIA: CIA is new to the CBS schedule, so it’s too soon to expect a pickup. But as it is a Dick Wolf series, it’s outlook is good.

DMV:DMV has two strikes against it. First, its companion comedy, The Neighborhood, wrapped up its run, so there isn’t a comedy to pair it with at this point in time. That said, its numbers may not warrant a pickup, despite consistent ratings in the 2-plus-million range.

Watson: With so many of its scripted dramas already having gotten the greenlight, and two new shows — Cupertino and Einstein – in the wings, it’s not looking good for Watson. It also doesn’t help that it’s the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.

Like CBS, FOX isn’t leaving much to the imagination as it has renewed the majority of its broadcast shows: American Dad, Animal Control, Best Medicine, Bob’s Burgers, Doc, Family Guy, The Floor, Krapopolis, The Simpsons and Universal Basic Guys.

FOX has also picked up two new shows for next season: The Interrogator, a Stephen Fry-led spy drama, and its Baywatch sequel, so something will need to be canceled to make room.

That just leaves these four series:Going Dutch: As the lowest-ranking live-action series on FOX, Going Dutch’s chances of renewal are slim.

Grimsburg: Grimsburg was renewed for a third season last May, and since those episodes haven’t aired yet, it’s too soon to predict a fourth season.

Memory of a Killer: It’s unclear at this point in time. But the show has been performing well for a new drama, so there’s a good chance it will see a second season.Murder in a Small Town: The odds are in favor of a pickup.

NBC has been the slowest of the networks to hand out pickups for the 2026-2027 season. To date, it has only given renewals to Happy’s Place and St. Denis Medical.

Brilliant Minds: The fact that NBC pulled Brilliant Minds from its Monday night lineup with its remaining six episodes not scheduled to air until Wednesday, May 27 at 8 p.m. ET., it is a good indication that it can be considered cancelled.

Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago PD: The #OneChicago shows are a shoe-in to get another season.

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins: Too soon for the verdict to be in.

The Hunting Party: There isn’t a lot of hope for The Hunting Party as the majority of NBC’s hourlong slots are already filled and there are fewer of them since the addition of more sports programming. NBC has three drama series in development: a Rockford Files reboot, Protection, and an untitled criminal profiler drama led by Emily Deschanel. It is looking likely that one of these will replace The Hunting Party.

Law & Orderand Law & Order: SVU: There’s no doubt that these two will get another year.

Stumble: The future for Stumble is diminishing. The half-hour comedy hasn’t been able to draw an audience on Friday nights, and it isn’t getting a much-needed boost from streaming numbers to help it out.
